New Amplifon-Aetna Contract

Contract expansion will improve the Aetna member experience

Amplifon and Aetna have expanded our contract to make it easier and more affordable for your patients with Aetna coverage to get hearing aids.

The following changes were effective beginning Monday, February 15, 2021.

What is changing?

Billing for Aetna’s commercial members with a hearing benefit through their employer-sponsored health plan. Amplifon will now bill Aetna for the funded portion, and Aetna will pay Amplifon directly. This means the member only pays for their portion of the hearing aids, if applicable, at the time of service.

Please note: This does not apply to Aetna’s Medicare Advantage plans with a hearing benefit administered by another vendor.

What does this mean for providers?

Use the Disclosure Form provided by Amplifon to review the cost estimate with the Aetna member prior to fitting.
If the member purchases a hearing aid that costs more than what the plan covers, collect the balance at the time of hearing aid fitting

New approved hearing aid product list. Members with Aetna coverage will have access to more than 1,100 hearing aids in seven (7) different price tiers, starting at $500 up to $1895 per device.

What does this mean for providers?

Review the approved product list prior to ordering to confirm the hearing aid is covered by Aetna.

What will stay the same?

Amplifon will continue to serve the same Aetna member segments that we do today. This includes:

Funded: Aetna members with a funded benefit through their employer-sponsored health plan.
Discount: Aetna members who do not have a funded benefit through their health plan.
